Major label signs new act on back of webcast
Sandi Thom bags record deal without leaving home
A major record label has signed a new act purely on the strength of her webcasts.
RCA have signed singer Sandi Thom after she attracted an online audience in excess of 100,000 to watch gigs broadcast online from her house in Tooting, south London.
Using this webcasts, Thom carried out a “world tour” by performing 21 gigs on the trot from her home after her car she used for her real tours broke down, BBC News reports.
Compared to fellow Scot KT Tunstall, RCA label director Craig Logan praised his new sigining, saying:
"Sandi is a very talented artist with an already unique story. We're very excited that we're now going to be a part of that story as she develops into a major artist."
