‘Scream 4’ officially given the go ahead

Slasher flick returns with Courtney Cox and co., 11 years after Scream 3

A fourth film in the Scream franchise is planned, the studio behind the series has announced.

Dimension Films have officially confirmed that a new part in Wes Craven’s post-modern slasher series will start shooting this spring.

It comes a month after director Craven announced his plans to the LA Times.

The film will reunite all of the key cast, including Courtney Cox-Arquette, husband David Arquette and Neve Campbell.

Shooting will start this spring and the movie is due to be released in cinemas in April 2011 – a full 11 years after Scream 3 apparently completed the horror trilogy.

The new Scream, which has been written by Kevin Williamson, the writer of the first two, is being conceived as the first in an all-new Scream trilogy.

Scream has been such an integral part of Dimension’s history,” said Dimension chief Bob Weinstein, “and I look forward to continuing the franchise.”
