Blues crooner sells out Astoria on first date of tour

Seasick Steve kicked off his mini UK tour last night with a special appearance from Scottish singer KT Tunstall.

Taking to the stage dressed in chequered shirt and dungarees, the tattooed musician rocked straight into an hour-long set of foot stomping Americana blues much to the joy of the sold out Astoria crowd - who cheered and stomped at every strum.

Creating a massive wall of sound with just himself and his homemade amp on stage, Steve was joined by a drummer and his grandson on tambourine for a few tracks – the first time he’s played live with percussion.

But it was special guest KT Tunstall that really excited the crowd.

The singer joined Steve for a foot-stomping guitar strumming track – and even popped back on to play the flute for a song.

Seasick Steve’s tour continues tonight (January 26) at Birmingham Academy.

Seasick Steve played:

Yellow Dog
Things Go Up
My Donny
Cut My Wings
Happy Man (with KT Tunstall)
St Louis Slim
Working Man
The Letter (Box Tops cover)
Falling Off A Rock
Chiggers
Save Me
Dog House Boogie

Ha, this actually made me laugh!

Homemade amp you say? Would that be the one with the Roland logo on...it is of course a Roland cube amp, the only homemade items are the diddly-bo and the 'Mississippi drum machine'

Come on guys, at least do your research!
Also, while he hasn't previously played with percussion in his solo career, the drummer he is playing was in 'Seasick Steve and the Level Devils', his former project!

Incidentally i attended the Birmingham gig and it one of the best i've been to...the gigs are being recorded so their may be a live CD on the way.
