Brazilian thrash metal band SEPULTURA are confirmed to make a rare appearance on home soil at the ROCK IN RIO festival, NME.COM can confirm.
The band will join Iron Maiden and Queens of the Stone Age at the festival on January 19. The whole event runs between January 12-21 at the Rock City in Rio.
Speaking about the band's decision to play the event, Sepultura mainman Roberto Medina told the official Rock In Rio website, www. www.rockinrio.americaonline.com.br "Sepultura is a national band that has already conquered the international market, a market that's important to spread Brazilian music, both rock and MPB. It's important o consolidate our image outside Brazil and our music is a great ambassador."
Also confirmed to perform across the different days are REM, Foo Fighters, Beck, Britney Spears, Oasis, Five, Deftones, Guns N' Roses, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Sting and *N SYNC.
