Sex Pistols re-record their classic hit

'Anarchy In The UK' gets a re-vamp

Sex Pistols have re-recorded their classic hit 'Anarchy In The UK' for use in the upcoming video game 'Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock'.

It marks the first time members John Lydon, guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook have been together in a studio since the late 1970s, reports Billboard.

The recording session took place at Air Studios, London, with producer Chris Thomas.

Guitarist Steve Jones enthused, "I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but it actually turned out great and I think everyone held their own."

He added, "I like ['Guitar Hero'] because my friends' kids like it. And I like what kids like."

It is understood the band had to re-record the track for the games, as the masters of the original recordings have been mislaid.

The re-recording has sparked speculation as to whether other tracks were laid in the studio at the same time.

Sex Pistols are set to play Brixton Academy from November 8-10.

Meanwhile, NME.COM is organising a campaign to get classic single 'God Save The Queen' to Number One in the charts.

The song was denied the top spot by the powers that be when it was originally released in 1977, because they didn't want the band's punk attitude interfering with the Queen's Jubilee that year.

As the single is being reissued on seven-inch vinyl to celebrate its 30th anniversary, we are calling on all fans to buy or download it during the week beginning October 8 - hopefully we can send it back up the charts.
