Sex Pistols Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious' squat reopens

Sid's unique mark has been left on the property, now luxury flats

The block of flats once lived in by Sex Pistols members Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious has reopened after receiving a £5 million makeover.

Rotten and Vicious squatted in the Number 39 flat of the New Court building in Hampstead, London in the late '70s.

The squat was reported to have no running water or electricity, with Camden Council even declaring it unfit for habitation.

Refurbishment work costing £5 million has now been completed on the building, which was relaunched by Glenda Jackson MP on September 26, reports Camden New Journal.

One-bedroom flats have a starting price of £360,000.

Despite the extensive renovation work carried out on New Court, Vicious' presence can still be seen on the building - the bassist carved his name into one of the outside bricks.

The Grade II listed building was also lived in by former Culture Club singer Boy George and T-Rex drummer Steve Took.

Calls to have a blue plaque placed outside the Number 39 flat have so far been disregarded.
