She And Him's Zooey Deschanel and Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard have announced that their marriage is over.

According to US Weekly, the pair – who tied the knot in December 2009 – have decided to split up after two years of marriage.

They claim that a representative for the Hollywood actress, who has starred in films including (500) Days Of Summer and The Happening and recently landed a role in US TV sitcom New Girl, confirmed that the couple had now separated.

A source close to the pair, meanwhile, reportedly said:

It was mutual and amicable. There was no third party involved.

She And Him – the duo comprised of Deschanel and M Ward – released their festive album 'A Very She And Him Christmas' earlier this month (October 24). Earlier this year, the singer and actress was forced to hit back at claims she was a"snobby cow" after the Los Angeles Times criticised her for making disparaging comments about Downtown LA.

Death Cab For Cutie, meanwhile, released their seventh album 'Codes & Keys' earlier this year, and are set to play the following UK shows this month:

London Hammersmith Apollo (November 16)
O2 Academy Leeds (17)
Birmingham Ballroom (18)
O2 Academy Glasgow (19)
