GET YER SOCKS OFF

Shed Seven have announced an eight-date UK tour and release a new single, 'Disco Down', on May 17 through Polydor.

The tour calls at

Bristol University (May 12) Portsmouth Pyramid Centre (13) Manchester University (15) Oxford Brookes University (16) Ipswich Corn Exchange (17) Liverpool L2 (19) Leicester De Montfort University (20) York Barbican Centre (June 4)

The band, who release a greatest hits album 'Going For Gold - The Best Of Shed Seven' on May 31, will support Happy Mondays on their reunion shows at

Hereford Leisure Centre (April 21) Manchester Evening News Arena (23) Glasgow SECC (24 & 25)

Meanwhile, frontman Rick Witter was the victim of an unprovoked attack two weeks ago on Monday, April 5. According to a band spokesman the singer was "attacked from behind while entering his home in York".

The unknown assailant knocked Witter to the floor claiming he was after "revenge" for an assault on a friend.

Witter, who was bizarrely robbed of his shoes and socks, claims the incident was a case of mistaken identity. He received no major injuries in the attack. Tickets are available from nme.com's 24-hour ticketline on 0870 121 0125 or click here to go to our online gig guide and ticket service.

Who nicked Rick's shoes? Is he just making this up? Is there some terrible Yorkshire shoe thief on the loose? Tell us what you think. Post a message on Angst!
