ON THE RISE

They're made up of personnel from [a]Shed Seven[/a], [a]Audioweb[/a] and [a]Seahorses[/a] - and they're called [b]The Rising[/b]...

Personnel from Shed Seven, Seahorses and Audioweb - fronted by an unknown Scots singer - have made their live debut as indie-supergroup THE RISING.

After six months' rehearsals in York, the band performed their first gig at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow on Friday night (August 4), before heading to London's Camden Barfly for their capital city debut before a bustling and enthusiastic crowd on Monday (August 7).

The band's line-up includes Stu Fletcher, ex-of The Seahorses, on bass, former Shed Seven guitarist Paul Banks and Audioweb drummer Maxi. They are fronted by a previously unknown singer, David McKellar, from Glasgow.

From Monday's energetic set, their new songs strongly echo the band's heritage, while piercingly-blue eyed singer David's youthful swagger is reminiscent of Liam Gallagher or Ian Brown, with the odd whiff of Jim Morrison bravado.

A spokesperson said they have so far only demoed songs. They are looking for a record deal at the moment and nothing is expected to be released until early next year.

Four tracks from the demo, which was recorded in Castleford, West Yorkshire are available to download on the band's website - www.therising.f2s.com. The song titles are 'Find Your Level', 'All My Life', 'Full Of Holes' and 'My Father's Eyes'.
