Carl Barat plays intimate gig in Glasgow for NME Showcases brought to you by H&M Loves Music
The singer also played two new songs from his forthcoming second solo LP
The singer, accompanied by a backing band including two of his former Dirty Pretty Things bandmates - guitarist Anthony Rossomando and former Libertines drummer Gary Powell - performed a selection of songs from his back catalogue as well as two new tracks from his forthcoming LP.
Taking to the stage in front of a crowd of 400 at Buchanan Street's branch of the clothes shop, the quartet began with a trio of Dirty Pretty Things tracks including 'Bang Bang You're Dead', 'Wondering' and 'Deadwood'.
The band then continued with recent release 'War of the Roses', Libertines favourite 'Horrorshow' and previous solo track 'Run With the Boys' before leaving Barat to perform an acoustic, solo portion of the set.
Barat launched into a version of 50's standard famously covered by Michael Jackson, 'Rockin' Robin', then moved onto Libertines favourites 'What Katie Did', 'The Ballad of Grimaldi' and 'France' before welcoming his bandmates back onto the stage as the crowd chanted "Carl Fucking Barat". Together the band played Dirty Pretty Things favourite 'Blood Thirsty Bastards' and debuted new Barat song, 'Victory Gin' .
Carl and co concluded with a fan-friendly bout of 'Gin And Milk' and Libs classics 'Death on the Stairs', 'Don't Look Back Into the Sun' and 'I Get Along', with members of the audience attempting to crowdsurf.
