SIGUR ROS PUT EURO SHOWS ON ICE

The band want to finish their new album...

Sigur Ros have pulled out of their European festival dates so they can finish work on their new album.

The band, who will honour their commitment to V2002 over the weekend of August 17-18, will not play scheduled shows in Ireland, Portugal, Spain Germany and France earlier that month.

Writing on the Sigur Ros website, www.sigur-ros.co.uk, bandmember George Holm said: "I'd just like to say how really sorry we are to people who bought tickets to see us at this summer's festivals and all those who put in a lot of effort to organise these shows.

"We're not in the habit of cancelling shows, but unfortunately the album is taking longer than we expected and we have to finish it in order for an autumn release. We should be back around the release date, and we hope to see you then."

The Icelandic group have been recording their new album in the UK, and also their native country.
