Sigur Ros to work with Smashing Pumpkins producer

Sigur Ros have announced they are working with Smashing Pumpkins producer Flood on their new album.

The band said that they would work with producer Flood on what will be their fifth studio LP.

Band member Orri Pall Dyrason said that the band had begun working on tracks for the record, with a late 2008 release date tentatively pencilled in.

The band are said to be recording in a house in downtown Reykjavik, and have written the foundations for several songs already.

Dyrason told Frettablaoio newspaper : “We don’t know where we’re heading yet. At the moment we only have song ideas, which always end up changing once we begin recording them.”

Sigur Ros recently released a live DVD, 'Heima', and a double CD of unreleased and acoustic songs called 'Hvarf/Heim'.
