Sigur Rós announce special New York show

Sigur Ros have announced a special show in New York City, taking place at the Museum of Modern Art on June 17.

The Icelandic band, who are preparing for the release of their new album entitled ‘Me_ su_ í eyrum vi_ spilum endalaust’, will play during the museum’s PopRally series. The performance will take place in conjunction with an exhibition of the work of fellow Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson entitled ‘Take your time: Olafur Eliasson’, and tickets go on sale June 10 through MoMA.

They will be previewing much of their new album, which will be released June 24. The record was completed just weeks ago and features the London Sinfonietta and London Oratory Boy’s Choir, their string-quartet friends Amiina, as well as a five-piece brass section on certain tracks.

Meanwhile the band will play a number of other dates in the US in June. They are:

Omaha, NE Orpheum Theater (June 11)
Kansas City, MO Uptown Theater (12)
Manchester, TN Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival (14)
New York, NY Grand Ballroom (16)
New York, NY MoMA (17)
