SILVER APPLES CAR CRASH TRAGEDY

SIMEON COXE survives road accident, but in critical condition...

Silver Apples main man SIMEON COXE is still in a critical condition following a car accident in New York on November 1. The outlook for his condition is pessimistic; he sustained extensive injuries including a broken neck, spinal injuries and leg injuries. His condition has improved, though there is a chance he may be paralysed.

Silver Apples, recently reunited cult 60s electronic pioneers, played with BLUR in July at the Meltdown Festival on London's South Bank. Their two much sought-after albums were reissued on CD for the first time.

Ironically, original Silver Apples drummer DANNY TAYLOR was in the band's van, returning from a gig in New York City and there had been talk of reuniting the original line-up. Taylor walked away with cuts and bruises, revived the comatose Simeon by giving him CPR before the ambulance arrived.

The future of the group is now in doubt.
