Bands sign on for 'Free Yr Radio' campaign

Simian Mobile Disco and Yeasayer are set to kick off the Free Yr Radio campaign with a performance at Austin's South by Southwest Festival on March 12.

The annual concert series, sponsored by Toyota Yaris and Urban Outfitters, benefits non-commercial US radio stations that support independent programming.

In addition, each day from March 13-15, Minnesota independent radio station The Current will broadcast live from SXSW at the Free Yr Radio Broadcast Corner at Red River Street and 7th Street.

Billy Bragg, Carbon/Silicon, Dizzee Rascal, She & Him and The Raveonettes are among the bands slated to perform.

In previous years, Klaxons, Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. have supported the Free Yr Radio campaign.
