Simple Minds announce new album details Simple Minds Tickets

'Graffiti Soul' is released this May

Simple Minds have announced details of their new album, to be released this May.

Called 'Graffiti Soul', the LP will hit the shelves on May 25.

As NME.COM previously reported, the band are celebrating their 30th year together by playing classic album 'New Gold Dream' in full at Edinburgh Castle this July.

They are also currently in the process of finalising details of a world tour to support the new album.

Speaking of 'Graffiti Soul', frontman Jim Kerr said in a statement that the album features a "bold and energetic" collection of songs.

"Stylistically, this is a truly vibrant rock n' roll album that's bursting at the seams with quite possibly the most ballsy pop songs we have written in years," he continued.

The album was written on location in Rome, Sicily, Antwerp and Glasgow.

When you say that your new songs are "ballsy", Jim, do you mean that they're vibrant and out-there, or merely that they're bollocks, as usual?

I have just heard Graffiti Soul and it is without doubt, the best thing i have heard this year, certainly the best thing Simple Minds have done since Sparkle In The Rain. If the bigwigs at NME swallow their massive pride and stop licking the arseholes of 'fashionable' bands ie U2, Frans Ferdinand (lol) they might give this album 2 out of 10........which is what i expect from NME
