Sky Ferreira cancels remaining Vampire Weekend support dates due to vocal injury
Singer now aiming to return to the stage at her headline show in LA on October 27
The pop singer was booked to support the band at ten dates this autumn and played the first four before pulling out of shows in Tucson, Albuquerque and Tulsa earlier this week. Now her three remaining Vampire Weekend support slots in Nashville, Kansas City and Grand Prairie have been chopped too.
A statement linked to on Ferreira's Facebook page confirms: "Sky Ferreira is disappointed to announce that on doctor's orders she is forced to cancel the remaining dates she had confirmed supporting Vampire Weekend. She wishes to send her heartfelt apologies to both Vampire Weekend and her fans for the inconvenience her vocal injury has caused."
The statement then explains: "Not wanting to disappoint her fans by cancelling without notice, Sky performed on Monday Oct 1 in San Diego, after her initial diagnosis. Playing the concert led to a haemorrhage of her vocal chords that was just diagnosed this afternoon. This has been an on-going issue with Sky since her performance at this year's SXSW festival."
Continuing, the statement reveals that Ferreira's ear, nose and throat doctor has prescribed two weeks of "complete vocal rest". The singer is now aiming to make her live return at her scheduled headline show in Los Angeles on October 27, which marks the release of her long-awaited debut album 'Night Time, My Time', due out two days later on October 29. Earlier this week Ferreira spoke publicly about her recent arrest on drugs charges, telling Billboard: "I know for a fact I'm not a drug addict." Ferreira and her boyfriend, Zachary Cole Smith of DIIV, were arrested in New York on September 13 after being found in possession of heroin and ecstasy.
