Slash has posted a video online campaigning against the culling of sharks - scroll down to view the clip.

The former Guns N'Roses guitarist has teamed up with animal conservation group Shark Friendly Marinas, which campaigns to help sustain shark populations that are rapidly plummeting in the wild. According to the organisation, between 60 and 100 million sharks are slaughtered worldwide each year.

"Recent data shows that over 100 million sharks are being killed a year," he said. "That's three sharks every second. That's unsustainable and it's not cool. We need sharks to have a healthy ocean. Please get involved by ending the harvest. Don't buy shark products, don't fish for sharks and if you happen to catch one, catch and release. Let it go."

Slash is among a host of stars who have previously campaigned to save sea creatures. In the past both Morrissey and Kasabian have campaigned against the culling of seals in Canada. Meanwhile, Slash recently recorded the new theme tune for the game Angry Birds Space. The track, features on the latest update of the app and plays on the game's title screen. Speaking about appearing on the game, Slash said: "Angry Birds found out that I was a big fan and reached out to me, I really jumped at the change to get involved." He also posted an image of his Angry Birds character on his Facebook page, which features his trademark top hat and black curly hair.
