SLAYER FACE NECROPHILIA COURT CASE APPEAL

The metal veterans face another court battle, as it is alleged that their music led to the rape and murder of a teenage girl in 1995...

In January a Californian judge ruled that the band were in no way responsible for the death of Elyse Pahler in a Satanic ritual performed by three of her classmates. However, at the trial San Luis Obispo Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Burke gave the family leave to appeal. On Friday (March 23), the family's lawyers submitted a new report to the court.

The body of Pahler was found close to her home near San Luis Obispo, California, in March 1996. She had been lured to her death there eight months earlier by Jacob Delashmutt, Joseph Fiorella and Royce Casey. They choked and stabbed her to death, returning later to have sex with her corpse.

The three pleaded guilty and are currently serving 25 years to life.

In a recent jailhouse interview, one of the three, Jacob Delashmutt told The Washington Post: "The music is destructive. [But] that's not why Elyse was murdered. She was murdered because Joe [Fiorella] was obsessed with her, and obsessed with killing her."

The 50-page amended complaint contains new evidence that the prosecution believes will help their case, including material from a study conducted by the Federal Trade Commission in 2000 detailing the marketing practices of the music, film and video gaming industries.
