A roundabout in Jaworzno, Poland has been named in honour of Slayer's late guitar player and co-founder Jeff Hanneman, who passed away on May 2, 2013 at the age of 49 from cirrhosis of the liver.

The roundabout will be known as Jeff Hanneman's Circle Pit for a whole year after a company called ART-COM Ltd won a charity auction to rename and 'symbolically own' the roundabout for 12 months, reports Spin.

Earlier this week former Slayer member Dave Lombardo spoke about the fact that Hanneman was not included in the Grammy Awards' 'in memoriam' segment, dedicated to musicians who had passed away over the past 12 months. Speaking to Metal Wani, Lombardo commented: "It was disappointing. They are notorious for that. That organisation is predominately rap and country driven. They don't wanna hear rock. They don't care about rock and metal. Metal, I think is music for misfits and it is played by misfits... We don't need anyone, metal doesn't need anyone or an organisation to recognise who we are. We have our fans."

Slayer will perform at Sonisphere 2014. The Knebworth bash was cancelled in 2013 and 2012 but returns this year with Iron Maiden and Metallica making their only UK festival appearances at the event. The Prodigy will headline the event on Friday, July 4.

Joining them on the bill will be Alice In Chains, Mastodon, Airbourne, Ghost, Gojira and Karnivool. Sonisphere 2014 will take place in Knebworth Park between July 4 and 6. Early bird tickets for the festival are available now priced £170.
