Slipknot paid tribute to bassist Paul Gray during their festival-closing headline set last night at Sonisphere (July 10).

The band had earlier held a two-minute silence for Gray, who died in May last year, which was honoured across the festival site. Frontman Corey Taylor thanked the crowd profusely for this.

He said: "I want to thank you all for what you did today. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Thank for you from the bottom of our hearts."

Taylor said early in the set that their tour had "been very, very emotional, but this is not a night for negativity, this is a night for positivity, this is a fucking celebration."

He then went on to say: "This tour and this music is dedicated to the life of Paul Dedrick Gray. He is always with this band and he is with us right now."

Slipknot played a set drawn from across their four albums, with seven songs aired from their 1999 self-titled debut album, as well as fan favourite 'Purity'. They also played five tracks from 2001's 'Iowa', which famously kept The Strokes' 'Is This It' from the top of the UK album chart when it was released.

The band also performed four tracks from 2005's 'Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses' and one from 2008's 'All Hope Is Gone'. The set was accompanied by a spectacular stage show, with fire and pyrotechnics on display throughout.

Slipknot played:

'(Sic)'
'Eyeless'
'Wait And Bleed'
'The Blister Exists'
'Liberate'
'Before I Forget'
'Pulse Of The Maggots'
'Frail Limb Nursery'
'Purity'
'Left Behind '
'Disasterpiece'
'Psychosocial'
'The Heretic Anthem'
'Duality'
'Only One'
'Spit It Out'
'(515)'
'People = Shit'
'Surfacing'
