Slipknot will enter the studio in early 2013 to record the follow-up to 'All Hope Is Gone', according to DJ Sid Wilson.

The band have tentatively hinted in recent months that they are thinking about returning to the studio to record the follow-up to their 2008 fourth album, but have previously refused to be drawn on when as they are still grieving for the death of bassist Paul Gray.

But, speaking to NME, Wilson said that the band would enter the studio at the beginning of next year and, as soon as singer Corey Taylor had completed his touring with side project Stone Sour, they would be back working on a new record.

Asked about the possibility of a new Slipknot record, Wilson said: "We've got Mayhem Festival this summer and, after we break for winter and Stone Sour are done with their tour, we'll be back in the kitchen with Slipknot. Actually before Stone Sour finish touring we'll be in the studio preparing for Corey's return, keeping the irons hot."

Then asked how he was feeling about the prospect of recording again, Wilson said: "It'll be tough, it won't be easy, Slipknot's the biggest thing in all of our lives, but we're always going to come back to it. We're going to get it done. I'm excited and I'm ready to do it."

He continued: "I'm sick of hearing people talk, it's time for action. When we come together, it's badass; we need to harness that energy of the live shows. When we come together like we always do, it's going to be brutal."

Slipknot will tour the US as headliner of Mayhem Festival this summer alongside Slayer, Motorhead, Anthrax and The Devil Wears Prada.
