Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor is to be the subject of a comedy roast.

Taylor will line up in front of a panel of friends who will honour and lampoon him at the Rock & Roll Roast Comedy Series on May 15 at LC Pavillion in Columbus, Ohio. The roast will be led by Sebastian Bach with Scott Ian of Anthrax and Taylor's own bandmate M Shawn 'Clown' Crahan set to be involved.

Other names lined up for the roast include comedians Jim Florentine, Don Jamieson, Craig Gass, Brian Posehn, Pearl Aday, and actor/comedian Finesse Mitchell. Tickets for the event are on sale now, with a portion of proceeds going to charity. Taylor is the third musician to be roasted as part of the Rock & Roll Roast Comedy Series following guitarist Zakk Wylde (2012) and Twisted Sister's Dee Snider (2013).

"Honestly, I don't know what to say. I'm a little nervous, a little excited, and of course a little gassy. But that could just be the excitement," said Taylor, in a statement. "I'm really looking forward to it, but knowing my friends and the possibilities for who could be a part of this, I have no idea what I'm getting into!"

Earlier this year it was confirmed that Slipknot would begin work on their new album with a view to releasing the record later in 2014. The US metal band are to start work on their next record following the recent departure of drummer Joey Jordison. The founder member quit the band in December, raising questions about their future, but frontman Corey Taylor subsequently denied that the band were splitting up.
