The comeback kings make progress

Smashing Pumpkins press on with 'magnificent' new album

Smashing Pumpkins' drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has described the latest work on the band’s comeback album as “magnificent”.

Writing on his band's MySpace page, the drummer revealed frontman Billy Corgan, who has remained largely silent about the reunion, is currently putting his guitar parts down.

Chamberlin disclosed: "We are moving along nicely in the studio. BC pulled off a magnificent guitar symphony last night and it is still ringing in my ears this morning. Eight guitars resonating in one big harmonic handshake! And the drums...........of course!

"Yes, things are sounding great my friends. Today we will be working on vocals and solos, tomorrow, who knows. We are channelers. Sonic students."

The band are set to release a new album in 2007. It will be their first LP since 2000’s ‘MACHINA/The Machines Of God’. Though Corgan and Chamberlin’s participation are confirmed, it’s unclear who else will be in the band.
