Snoop Dogg assault civil trial kicks off Snoop Dogg Tickets
Opening statements begin in California
A civil trial against Snoop Dogg, in which the rapper is accused of assaulting a man in 2005, has started in California.
Richard Monroe Jr is seeking $22 million in damages from the rapper because he says Snoop – real name Calvin Broadus – and his entourage inflicted serious injuries on him after he jumped onstage during a concert in Seattle.
Monroe claims he thought he was allowed to go onstage with the rapper during his performance of 'Gin And Juice', but was then beaten and robbed, reports the Associated Press.
Broadus was present during jury selection one day this week and was also in court to see a video of the incident being screened as Monroe's attorneys gave their opening statements.
