Snoop Dogg: 'I'll be reborn on next album'
'I never really knew who I was', says rapper
Snoop Dogg has revealed that his next album will show his real personality.
Despite being eleven solo albums into his career, Snoop has said fans have yet to see the real him. But he hopes that will all change, as he begins writing his new album.
Snoop told MTV News that his new project will come with an "element of surprise".
He added:
It's special. It's a real special project to me because it's like the reincarnation and the birth of me becoming who I really am
Snoop Dogg released his debut album, 'Doggystle', in 1993 to critical and commercial acclaim. The album depicted Snoop as a gangsta rapper; an image he says he has been trying to shake off for some time.
He admitted: "I never really knew who I was through music. I was always a very peaceful, kind, loving, caring individual and making music to symbolize that sometimes never was my key."
While not revealing what his new material might sound like, Snoop does tease that the songs might help prolong his career in rap music.
"This record gives me an opportunity to the world of the stadium," he said. "Those are the kind of songs that last 40, 50 years."
