Rapper Snoop Dogg's tourbus was searched by US authorities in the early hours of Friday morning (June 16) and a quantity of drugs seized.

However another member of the star's touring party claimed possession of the 300 grams of marijuana or, as a Snoop spokesperson said, "high-quality Humboldt sinsemilla".

According to reports from the US the bus was stopped for a routine check by border patrol at the Temecula checkpoint just outside San Diego. The rapper had been performing in the city as part of the 'Up In Smoke' tour - the biggest ever hip hop travelling revue which also includes Dr Dre, Ice Cube and an underfire Eminem.

When officers smelled marijuana they boarded the bus and discovered the stash. Snoop's associate was charged with possession and then released.

Snoop Dogg has not commented on the incident.
