It's a cover of the legendary broadcaster's favourite song 'Teenage Kicks'....

Snow Patrol are giving away a free download in memory of JOHN PEEL.

The band have made their cover of Peel’s favourite track,‘Teenage Kicks’ by the Undertones, available on their website. The track was recorded at last year’s SXSW festival

In a message on the band’s official website they speak of their sadness at the DJ’s death last week (October 25).

The message reads: "Unfortunately we never had the honour of a Peel session or meeting him. We greatly admired him, his maverick radio shows, and in our dreams always though he would do the voice over for the Reindeer Section rock family tree. He was responsible for saving Radio 1 from chart hell, he will be sorely missed. This track is free to download and is given as a gift from us in memory of John."

The band, whose latest single ‘How To Be Dead’ entered the charts at number 39 last week, will embark on their sold out tour at the end of the month, kicking off in Birmingham on November 27.
