Snow Patrol drummer to return next month

Snow Patrol's drummer Jonny Quinn has confirmed he will return to touring duties next month.

As previously reported on NME.COM, the sticksman fractured his arm while snowboarding in the French Alps, forcing the band to draft in longtime friend Graham Hopkins.

Posting on the band's official website, Quinn said he would be back for their Australian dates.

He wrote: “I thought it was time that someone from Snow Patrol learnt to snowboard, so I took myself off to Chamonix. However on the first day I tumbled down a hill and broke my elbow. Fortunately it is not a bad break and it looks like I will be set for Australia."

Meanwhile, Snow Patrol have announced that proceeds from their next single 'Open Your Eyes' will go to Save The Children's Rewrite The Future campaign, which aims to provide education for eight million children in war torn countries.

Singer Gary Lightbody explained: “We have been supporting Save The Children’s Rewrite The Future campaign since it launched last year. Over 40 million children living with the effects of conflict can't go to school. Yet education is the very thing that could keep them safe, give them and their countries hope, and transform their lives.

"The donation from this single will help but it is also about putting pressure on governments to open their eyes and their pockets and provide enough funding to make sure all children get a chance to go to school."

'Open Your Eyes' is released on February 12.
