Snow Patrol play smallest show in years

The band warm up for Isle Of Wight with tiny Glasgow gig
Snow Patrol played their most intimate show in years last night (June 5) in Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.
The show at the small but legendary venue was a warm-up for their Friday night (June 8) headlining slot at this weekend’s Isle Of Wight festival. Just over 300 fans, winners of an XFM competition, packed inside.
The band were in relaxed form during the 90-minute, 18-song set. Coursing through a hits collection, frontman Gary Lightbody joked that Snow Patrol had played the venue more than anyone in history.
“We’ve played here about 400 times,” he said. “This is 401st time.”
He added that the band played the venue, also the scene of Oasis’ infamous discovery, for the first time in 1996.
During the set, the five-piece were joined onstage several times by fellow Northern Irish singer-songwriter Iain Archer, most notably on Snow Patrol’s massive breakthrough ‘Run’. Archer was a sometime member of member of the band and helped pen the hit.
Snow Patrol also gave a live debut to ‘Signal Fire’, the most recent hit taken from the soundtrack to ‘Spiderman III’.
