SUPER SONIC!

The Swedish band play the opening night of Sonic Cathedral - and there are other special guests too...

Hotly tipped Swedish shoegazers THE RADIO DEPT kick off their first UK tour at a new club night celebrating the genre.

The band, whose debut album 'Lesser Matters' was released to universal acclaim earlier this year, will play the new Sonic Cathedral night at The Legion, 348 Old Street, London EC1 on Saturday (October 23), where they will be joined by DJs including early-'90s indie heroes The Telescopes and – according to rumour – a DJing supergroup comprising former members of shoegazing legends Lush, Slowdive, Chapterhouse and Revolver. The club is humorously dubbed The Night That Celebrates Itself after Melody Maker's nickname for the bands, The Scene That Celebrates Itself.

The Radio Dept's tour continues at the following venues:

Nottingham Social (October 24)
Birmingham Royal George (25)
Manchester Roadhouse (26)
Glasgow Oran Mor (27)
London Camden Barfly (28)

The band release their next single 'Ewan' on XL Recordings in November.
