SONIC SUMMER!

The indie veterans plug the gaps left by the Lollapalooza cancellation with some dates of their own...

Sonic Youth are pressing ahead with their live plans following the cancellation of LOLLAPOLOOZA.

Following the release of their new album 'Sonic Nurse', they were due to play the legendary travelling festival staged by Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell.

However, the tour was pulled last month with just weeks to go following poor ticket sales.

However, the band are in the process of scheduling their own US tour, adding dates almost daily, with the current schedule looking like this:

Vancouver Commodore Club (July 13)
Seattle Showbox (14)
Portland OR Crystal Ballroom (15)
San Francisco The Fillmore (17)
San Diego SOMA (20)
Phoenix Marquee (21)
Las Vegas House Of Blues At Mandalay Bay (23)
Salt Lake City In The Venue (25)
Denver Ogden (26)
Minneapolis Quest (28)
Chicago The Vic Theatre (29)
Milkwaukee The Rave (30)
Columbia Blue Note (31)
Detroit Marquee (August 2)
Montreal Metropolis (4)
Toronto Koolhaus (5)
Ottowa Capital Hall (6)
Washington DC 9:30 Club (11)
Portland ME State Theatre (15)
Raleigh Cat's Cradle (19)
Asheville NC The Orange Peel (20)

As previously reported on NME.COM, Sonic Youth will play a one-off show at London Brixton Academy on September 2.
