Sonic Youth play final show of Free Yr Radio Sonic Youth Tickets

They delight LA fans at free in-store performance

Sonic Youth closed out the Free Yr Radio campaign Saturday (July 21) with a rousing set at the Urban Outfitters store in Santa Monica, California.

The art-rock pioneers delighted the packed house with songs spanning their decades-long career, including 'Reena', 'Bull In The Heather' and 'What A Waste'.

Sonic Youth played the show in support of Los Angeles independent radio station KXLU -- one of many independent stations to benefit from this year's campaign, which included performances from Klaxons, Dinosaur Jr. and The Rapture, among others.

Fans queued around the block to get a glimpse of Sonic Youth, and many were turned away from the small venue due to space constraints.

"Thanks for coming out to support free stations like KXLU as opposed to that mainstream bullshit," singer-guitarist Thurston Moore told the lucky few who made it in to see the show.

Pavement bassist Mark Ibold joined the original Sonic Youth lineup of Moore, Kim Gordon, Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley during their 45-minute set.

The previous night, Sonic Youth performed their landmark 1988 album, 'Daydream Nation', in its entirety at a sold-out show at the Los Angeles Greek Theatre.
