Soundgarden have confirmed that they are to record new material.

The grunge band, who reunited in January last year after a 12-year break, said they were working on new material last December.

However, this is the first time that they have definitely said they are going to record. The results are expected to form a new album.

Posting on their official website, Soundgardenworld.com, the Seattle band explained: "Over the past few months we've been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together – exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon.”

They titled the post "Let's make a record".

Soundgarden will release a live album, ‘Live At l5’, on March 21.
