'GRACE' UNDER PRESSURE!

'Amazing Grace' was recorded in just a few weeks...

SPIRITUALIZED have secretly recorded a brand new album, NME.COM can reveal.

Despite spending four years writing and recording their last record 'Let It Come Down', singer Jason Pierce has been busy on 'Amazing Grace', a new "garage" album that clocks in at just over 40 minutes.

"It's been recorded in just a few weeks, it's more stripped down than 'Let It Come Down'. It's the antithesis of the last one," a source close to the band told NME.COM.

NME.COM has heard 'Amazing Grace', which opens with guitar feedback before breaking into the very heavy ‘This Little Life of Mine’, the melody of which mirrors another traditional religious tune of the same title. The lyrics run: "This little light of mine/ I’m gonna let it slide/ I’m gonna let it burn/ I’m getting sick of tryin’/ Just gonna let it go down… "

The album offers a diversity of sounds. ‘Hold On’, which also features on the recent War Child album 'Hope' in another version, offers tinges of country, ‘Oh Baby’ is a multi-layered, orchestral number with a choir. ‘Lord Let It Rain On Me’ has a heavy gospel feel.

The full tracklisting is:

'This Little Life of Mine'
'She Kissed Me (It Felt Like A Hit)'
'Hold On'
'Oh Baby'
'Never Goin’ Back'
'The Power And the Glory'
'Lord Let It Rain On Me'
'The Ballad of Richie Lee'
'Cheapster'
'Rated X'
'Lay It Down Slow'

There's no official release date for the album yet but it's likely to come out later this year.
