Spiritualized 'Sweet Talk' John Peel tent at Glastonbury Spiritualized Tickets
Jason Pierce and co play epic dusk set on Worthy Farm
Spiritualized played in the John Peel tent at Glastonbury earlier tonight (June 29), wowing the crowd with an enigmatic set of orchestral pop.
Taking the stage at 9pm (BST), with the sun still shining on Worthy Farm, Jason Pierce and his band played an impressive set featuring songs both old and new.
Spiritualized were bolstered by three white-clad female backing singers, playing in front of four screen images of hypodermic needles, a reference to their recent album, 'Songs In A & E'.
An ethereal atmosphere was soon created in the busy tent, as dry ice swirled around the band while they drew impressive walls of guitar blast from their instruments during second song 'Shine A Light'.
The stage was swathed in green and blue light as the band played 'Sweet Talk' later in the set. The song was played shortly after a contingent of fans near the front shouted "We love you Jason!" at the singer/guitarist, who was clad in black sunglasses.
After a rollocking 'She Kissed Me (It Felt Like A Hit)' the crowd cheered as they recognised the opening guitar lines of 'Take Your Time', swaying along in time to the atmospheric song.
An even louder cheer was heard as the audience recognised the opening bars of 'Come Together', which followed.
Spiritualized ended their set with 'Cop Shoot Cop', leaving the stage to mass applause and shouts for more.
Spiritualized played:
'You Lie You Cheat'
'Shine A Light'
'Cheapster'
'Soul On Fire'
'Sweet Talk'
'Sitting On Fire'
'She Kissed Me (It Felt Like A Hit)'
'Take Your Time'
'Come Together'
'Cop Shoot Cop'
