‘Spy Kids’ set to cast new lead role alongside Jessica Alba?

Joel McHale is in talks to join franchise

Joel McHale is in talks to take a leading role in the next Spy Kids film.

If he takes the role in Spy Kids 4, the Informant! actor would play a spy-tracking reporter married to Jessica Alba‘s character, reports Variety.com.

Alba plays a retired spy who has been reactivated, and is also the stepmother to the kids in the Robert Rodriguez film.

McHale appeared in US network E!‘s comedy show The Soup and has been starring in sitcom Community. His upcoming films include What’s Your Number with Anna Faris and The Big Year with Steve Martin.

It has not yet been announced who will be playing the new generation of child agents in the movie, set to be filmed in Texas ahead of a release next year.
