FEAST OF STEPHEN!

The Jicks join the former Pavement frontman on 'Pig Lib'...

Former Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus
releases the follow-up to his 2001 self-titled debut solo LP next year - but this time he's part of a band.

The record, 'Pig Lib', is out in March through Domino in the UK and Matador in the US. and credited to Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks.

Stephen Malkmus is emphasising that the new album is band effort, with The Jicks bassist Joanna Bolme and drummer John Moen making significant contributions to the songs. "Stephen Malkmus And The Jicks are very much a band" insists a post on the official Matador website www.matadorrecords.com.

Stephen Malkmus said of the record on www.rollingstone.com: "Five of the twelve [songs] could have been on the last album. And they would have fit with the more melodic, standard-tuning, slightly traditional songs. The others are stranger, more progressive, acid rock or something with more parts - maybe too many parts - more solos and stuff like that."
