FRINGE BENEFITS!

...Trail Of Dead, Sparklehorse and Stephen Malkmus must have heard the Scottish capital's a good place to be at that time of year...

FRINGE BENEFITS!

...AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD, SPARKLEHORSE, ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT and STEPHEN MALKMUS are among the acts appearing at the PLANET POP festival in EDINBURGH throughout August.

It will be the sixth year the alternative music festival has taken place in the capital during the annual Fringe arts festival.

This year's events are taking place at The Venue and Gaia, and for the first time there will be a series of free gigs showcasing Scottish bands.

More acts are yet to be announced, but the line-up so far is:

Ticket details and more acts will be confirmed at the official Planet Pop website.

In addition, the festival will host six free shows by Scottish acts, sponsored by Scottish Arts Council funding.

The line-up for the free shows is:

Huckleberry, Penny Hollow, Bangtwister (14)

Ballboy, Yessa de Passo, Aether Flux (30)

The free gigs all take place at The Venue.
