STEREO MC'S: THE MISSING YEARS EXPLAINED!
They were recharging their batteries, apparently...
The STEREO MC'S have defended the nine-year break between forthcoming album 'DEEP DOWN AND DIRTY' and the much lauded 'CONNECTED', declaring, "We just had to recharge our batteries before we could become creative."
Speaking exclusively to NME.COM at a secret playback of the album in his London studio last week, core member Rob Birch said: "All we've really been doing is music. We've been doing other things as well, we've got a label called Response, which we've released a few records on, and we've got a publishing thing. We've done a few mixes for people [including Madonna's 'Frozen']. I think we were a bit drained after all the touring we did and there was about a year gap when we never actually saw a studio. I think we just had to recharge our batteries before we could become creative."
He continued: "I'd rather we did a good record that we were happy with and nobody knew who the fuck we were, and we came out as a brand new group - that sounds more exciting to me. Each record is your only test anyway, you can't rest on what you've already done, you can only believe in what you're doing now."
