Stereolab will headline the Peel Sessions Live gig at London SE1 Queen Elizabeth Hall on June 3, to be broadcast live on Radio 1.

The band have also finished recording their new album, which will be released in August.

The album, the band's first new material since 1997's 'Dots And Loops', was recorded in London with John McEntire from Tortoise.

Stereolab are also set to preview some new songs exclusively at the BBC Music Live Festival being held in Glasgow in May.

Stereolab appear at "a special celebration of live electronic music" being recorded for digital TV channel BBC Choice at the Cottier Theatre in Glasgow on May 27. The Beat Room: Electrophobia! is to be presented by BMX Bandits frontman Duglas Stewart and also features performances from Add N To (X), Momus and Toog.

Anyone interested in attending the recording should call 0141 287 5000 for information.

BBC Music Live runs from May 26-31 and will be the biggest live music festival to be broadcast in the UK, boasting over 100 events from approximately 40 venues around Glasgow. Acts performing for Radio 1 include The Delgados and The High Fidelity at Glasgow School Of Art (May 26, for John Peel), Travis at the Garage (27, for Steve Lamacq's show), Texas at the Barrowlands (30) and Idlewild at the Garage (31, also for Steve Lamacq). Organisers expect to confirm more acts nearer the time.

Amongst the other scheduled events at BBC Music Live are a special Fabio & Grooverider Club Night coming live from Glasgow School Of Art on May 28. Mary Anne Hobbs will host her Breezeblock show from G2 on May 31, and there will be live broadcasts from Paul Oakenfold, Pete Tong and Dave Pearce.

All performances will be featured live on Radio 1. Tickets for the shows are available from nme.com's 24-hour ticketline on 0870 121 0125 or click here to go to our online gig guide and ticket service.
