The cause of former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable's death may not be determined for another six weeks, according to South Wales Police.

Cable, 40, was found in his Aberdare home yesterday morning (June 7) at 5:30am (BST).

A post-mortem examination has been carried out at Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil, but the cause of death will not be known until toxicology tests are completed.

South Wales Police claim the results could take up to six weeks. An inquest into the the star's death is also due to be opened.

Flowers have since been laid by fans on the windscreen of his Chrysler 300 Sedan, which had been parked outside his local pub the Welsh Harp Inn at nearby Trecynon in the Cynon Valley on the night of his death.

The star regularly drove his car to the pub and walked home afterwards, reports BBC Wales News.

The drummer was sacked from Stereophonics in 2003, and following his departure he went on to have a career in TV and radio, as well as hosting awards ceremonies.

The band's frontman Kelly Jones has already paid tribute to the drummer, explaining the pair had patched up their differences a long time ago and were due to meet up soon.

The trio have also posted a picture of Cable up on their official site stereophonics.com in memory of their former bandmate.
