Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable's funeral is set to take place in his hometown of Aberdare, Cynon Valley, at 12:00 BST today (June 21).

The drummer, aged 40, was found dead at his home in Llwydcoed on June 7.

Although the funeral ceremony is private, Cable's family have allowed a loudspeaker to be erected outside the service so fans can listen to proceedings. They have also invited those who wish to pay their respects to line the streets along the funeral's procession route, reports BBC News.

The funeral takes place at St Elvan's Church, after which a cortege including a horse-drawn carriage will travel onto a private cremation.

Stereophonics have paid tribute to Cable by posting a picture of him on their website with the words "In loving memory" written above it.

Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf council, Simon Lloyd, also praised Cable, saying: "He will be remembered for the pride he installed in people and the inspiration he gave them."

A cause of death is yet to be revealed, with police saying it may take weeks before more information on Cable's passing is established.
