'...GIRL' POWER
Kelly Jones blasts out a version of the Temptations' 'My Girl'...
STEREOPHONICS singer KELLY JONES joined THE CROCKETTS on stage for a cover of THE TEMPTATIONS song, 'MY GIRL', at a pub in BIRMINGHAM last night (December 20), NME.COM can reveal.
The Crocketts are ending the year by playing two low-key fan shows at the Birmingham Fleece and Firkin, the first of which took place last night. The band are using the shows to perform B-sides and cover versions, and for the encore, Jones joined the band for the track.
One eyewitness told NME.COM that the appearance was "totally unexpected". She continued: "They played a mad set, and the evening had a real Christmas feel to it. When Kelly came on it was the perfect end to a storming evening!"
A spokesperson for The Crocketts told NME.COM the idea was hatched at a Christmas party the band threw for close friends last weekend. She said: "Kelly was at the party and they came up with the idea over too much absinthe!"
The performance was a carbon copy of Jones' performance at Stereophonics bassist Richard Jones wedding in Suffolk last month. At the wedding reception, The Crocketts played live, and were joined by Jones for a cover of the same song.
