Classic Stevie Wonder and Al Green shows get DVD release

Rare performances by soul giants Stevie Wonder and Al Green are to be made available on DVD for the first time.

The shows, which were recorded for the groundbreaking Public Broadcasting Service network series 'Soul!', were originally filmed in 1972. Neither of these hour long broadcasts was ever aired in the UK or was previously available commercially.

’s DVD will be available on October 10, Al Green’s comes out on October 17. Both are titled 'Live In '72'.

The Stevie Wonder DVD features additional interview material with Stevie Wonder and an extra track, while Al Green's has three bonus performances.

Soul! was a trailblazing show which ran on the PBS network in the US between 1967 and 1973. Widely considered the first programme ever produced from an exclusively black perspective, it was a mix of live music, studio debate, and heavyweight interviews and often featuring the likes of Muhammad Ali, Jesse Jackson and Sidney Poitier.
