Stevie Wonder receives civil rights award
Singer plays medley of hits at ceremony
The singer followed his acceptance speech by playing a medley of his hits including ’My Cherie Amour’ and ’I Wish’ at the ceremony in Memphis, Tennessee.
Wonder told the 5,000 strong audience that the world should “use the gifts God has given us to help those less fortunate,” reports BBC NEWS.
Previous recipients of the award include Bill Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.
The museum was established in 1991 to pay tribute to individuals whose accomplishments signify the spirit of the civil rights movement.
