Stone Temple Pilots have announced a tour of North America which starts next month with an appearance at Bayfest in Alabama.

The band have been working on their sixth studio album, their first since 2001's 'Shangri-La-Dee-Da', which is set for release sometime in early 2010 although contractual disputes between the band and Atlantic Records are ongoing, reports Blabbermouth.

In the mean time frontman Scott Weiland who recently had a seizure on a flight from Los Angeles to Miami, has been touring in support of his second solo album 'Happy In Galoshes'.
