Former crack addict Brett Anderson says 'A New Morning' is the first LP he's made while drug free...

BRETT ANDERSON has told NME.COM that forthcoming album 'A NEW MORNING' is "the first ever SUEDE record that wasn’t influenced in its making by drugs".

Suede release their new album, 'A New Morning' on September 30. In recent interviews, Anderson has spoken of his addiction to drugs confessing he "got into crack" and was "a smack addict for ages".

Speaking to NME.COM, Anderson explained how the new album differs from the band's back catalogue.

"It expresses how I feel right at this moment in my life and I’m proud of that. Its quite an honest record, it’s an honest account of where I am as a human being," he said. "The only relevance drugs have to me now is that this record was very much inspired by not taking them. It was the first ever Suede record that wasn’t influenced in its making by drugs. For me that’s a step forward."

Anderson said that album track 'Obsessions' will be their new single. B-sides are currently unconfirmed.

He said that now off drugs, he has replaced his addiction with "an engagement with the real world". He concluded: "I’m devouring culture, and reading and devouring art. Instead of furtively scurrying from house to house, I’m actually behaving like a human being."

'Obsessions', is likely to be released around the time of their UK tour in November.
