The girls confirm Mutya Buena’s replacement

Sugababes have revealed the identity of their new band member.

After founding ‘Babe Mutya Buena announced her decision to quit the group yesterday (December 21), remaining members Heidi Range and Keisha Buchanan confirmed they would be recruiting a new singer to take her place.

The girls will now be joined by 21 year-old Amelle Berrabah, a relative pop newcomer.

“I’ve grown up with Sugababes’ music as a soundtrack to my life and I’ve been a fan of theirs for years,” explained Berrabah after her appointment. “I still can’t believe my luck.”

Buena is the second band member to quit the Sugababes, original singer Siobhan Donaghy departed during a Japanese tour in 2001.

The group are now set for American dates before joining Take That as special guests on their reunion tour.
