Sugababes singer Amelle Berrabah has been found guilty of assaulting a girl at a nightclub in London.

The star appeared in the City Of Westminster Magistrates' Court yesterday (September 2) to face a common assault charge after a run-in with Danielle Dodoo at Alto, the nightclub owned by Berrabah's boyfriend Tom Benn. She was given a conditional discharge and ordered to pay £250 compensation, reports The Sun.

The court heard the singer attacked Dodoo when she asked her to watch where she was going. Dodoo said:

She was slurring. She kind of leaned up towards my face and said something like she was going to bite my nose off. She had her hand around my neck and it must have been there for a few seconds.

Berrabah denied scratching and said she was pinched. But district Judge Michael Snow told her she inflicted "nasty, unpleasant" injuries in the incident.

He refused to give her a tougher sentence because he said Dodoo's evidence was partly driven by revenge and spite.

After the ruling, Berrabah issued a public apology to her fans. She said:

Following my conviction for assault, I would like to offer my unreserved apologies to the band's fans, my bandmates, our record label and my family.

This is not the first time she has found herself in court. Last year the singer was charged with a drink driving offence.
